Killed in Line of Duty

The past few weeks across America we've witnessed violence at it purest form. Violence in the streets against everyday hard working people, children, police officers and now Congresswomen Giffords. Prior to the attempted assassination of the Congresswomen, our media has inundated us with street violence stories, shootings, street gang wars, random violent murders and the death of several police officers, border patrol officers and everyday people.

January 21, 2011, just a few days after America buried six innocent bystanders from the rage and murderous rampage of a mentally deranged person, and the shooting of a member of our Congress, two Miami-Dade police officers were struck down in a barrage of bullets while trying to protect our community from a 23 years old street thug, who was wanted for MURDER. America lost two dedicated Sheriffs Officers, doing their sworn duty to uphold and protect its citizens. Sherriff's Deputy Roger Castillo and Amanda Haworth were killed in the line of duty.

Just the week before, in Lakewood New Jersey, a sleepy town of middle class, lower class and upper class families, a police officer was also gunned down just doing his job. His stop of a wanderer led to him being murdered while sitting in his patrol car. He never knew what hit him, he didn't have time to react, it was just capital murder at the end of a gun barrel.

While the politico's line up to place blame at each event, one has to wonder where does the blame belong. American history was formed in blood, spreading from the bodies of protectors of our Constitution across this great land, since the original settlers landed and form this great 200 year plus union.We fought other nations on our soil, we fought other Americans on our soil, we've seen Presidents assassinated, and Governors murdered all at the end of a barrel.

This is not an ANTI-GUN blog.. It's "Just the Facts" as Joe Friday, LAPD TV Detective would say.

Now comes the politicians with their input. One wants to blame the other party, or an individual for her rhetoric, another want to institute a "SHOW YOUR GUN" or "LOOSE GUN" ownership. That is everyone who wants a gun can have one as long as they qualify and are not convicted felons. Next we'll be seeing "Wyatt Earp" standing with a side by side gun belt, strapped with a bandoleer of ammunition across his chest, and then he'll be joined by Old Immigrants, New Immigrants and gang-bangers all walking around toting and flashing hardware...more macho than you kind of stuff.

The "Right to Bear Arms" was included in our Constitutional 2nd Amendment for the safety and protection of it's citizens against tyranny from government, and to have the people of this great land act as protectors of the land if needed.

TODAY, land owners along the Mexican Border appear to be on their own, while States Governments and the U.S. Government argue over the design of a Border Fence, hard wall or electronic. Meanwhile, Texans, Californians, Arizonians and New Mexicans are struggling to protect their lands.

A Not So Brilliant, North Florida State Senator suggests that the State of Florida engage in the "loose gun" public display of weapons to reduce crime. Show'em will tell'em..So He Thinks! Gun violence will increase. Even today with "Road Rage" as the cause of many shootings what should we expect from a "Loose Gun" policy.

Remember; "GUNS" don't kill! People DO!!!

If a government, State or otherwise issues a license for a carry gun, they should also require complete background checks, mental health evaluations, and certified training. I'd be glad to see that!!

Then, just maybe, the Arizona killings and shootings would not have occurred. After review of what the public has been told, the shooter, (notice I don't need to identify him) could not have bought the gun the day before from a hand-me cash and I'll give you a gun shop.

A background check requires more than a telephone criminal records check. It needs a lead time to complete and evaluate the authority and permission to carry a gun. Here we go! Those NRA screamers will be hollering... just remember Tucson. If it had a delayed gun authorization program, he, the shooter might have not had access to the gun.
