In December 1956 in a movie theater in Brooklyn, NY 1500 people were watching the movie "War & Peace".when a BOMB under a seat exploded, seriously injuring 6 people. This was the continuation of a terror rampage that plagued NYC since the 1940's. This was the wort of what the NYPD declared as the "MAD BOMBER".The citizens of New York City "traveled and lived in fear" Subway bombings, Public Train Stations, Grand Central Station, a main hub for train travel across America during the 1940 till today. Bombs were placed in public spaces, Port Authority Building (Bus Terminal), Subway cars, and the World famous Radio City Music Hall.
The MAD BOMBER, later determined to be George Metesky of Stanford, Connecticut was a simple man, living with his two sisters, calm looking, "school teacher" type..nondescript yet held NYC Hostage for years. His reasoning was he was angry over his employment with NY's Consolidated Edison, He claimed to have been hurt on the job that caused his loss of his job at the power company of NYC.
He was captured near his home. Inside components of other bombs were found. Metetsky was declared to be a paranoid schizophrenic and was sent to a mental health facility. While his bombs never killed anyone, he injured many and put a The largest city in the World in fear.
He was released 17 years later after being deemed competent. He went back to Connecticut and lived out his life until he passed away in 1994.
The story here, is that his defense of MENTAL Paranoid Schizophrenia allowed him not to serve a day in prison.

WE MAY FIND THAT JAMES HOLMES, the alleged COLORADO MASS MURDERER..may find the same route of justice....be prepared for that defense......Like the shooter of President Reagan, and the shooting of Jame Baker caught in the line of fire...Insanity was the defense..he lives under observation, is allowed after more than 20 years to leave the Mental facility...but is monitored.
We may see Holme with the same results.....All Criminal Trials are different, jurisdictions are different, laws are different and Judges, Juries and Prosecutors are different.
