Today will be a day to Memorialize the victims of Congresswomen Giffords  assassination attempt. To the Victims we pray for them and remember their goodness and caring contributions. To the survivors, injured victims, those shot by the madman, and their families that must endure the pain and mental anguish, we remember all.


Keeping GUN POLITICS out of the memorial, we must all consider what needs to be done in the immediate future to help prevent such a tragedy. We all know someone we consider a bit different, strange, or even threatening. Staying silent, as many did in the Jared Loughner matter will only lead to behavior escalation and horror.

CRIMETALKAMERICA asks all to GET INVOLVED.. Don't look the other way, don't be that neighbor that sees, just wants the world be a better place, but won't act, call, notify or even question. The tragedy of the Arizona massacre is that it didn't have to happen. The State had passed a Mental Health Notification law for anyone to call the hot line and report questionable behavior of a person, so that a mental health professional can be sent to evaluate.

It's being reported, after the fact, that the police were called to Jared's home on different occasions, yet while we do not know the circumstances, it 's now obvious that their was some ongoing problems in the home. Not to blame anyone, or the police, but had someone from Mental Health Hot line intervened, maybe those murdered or injured would not be in this situation had someone, a neighbor, friend, family or even the police acted accordingly to the new State Mental Health Hot line notification system.

This is not second guessing, but rather an observation. How many other States have Mental Health intervention programs in place. It seems that some twenty + years ago, we turned our backs on the mental needs of those experiencing problems, whatever the cause. We turned many mental patients back onto the streets to reduce the costs of hospitalization, only to suffer the results of such actions as these shootings, killings  and horror. As in the attempted  assassination of President Ford, President Regan, killing of Jon Lennon and even the Jody Foster stalker who tried to kill Reagan, the warning signs were always there, but no=one acted.

Evaluate your State's procedures with dealing with the mentally ill, incompetent and neglected within your community. Civil Rights are one thing, protecting the community is another.DOES YOUR STATE HAVE A MENTAL HEALTH HOT LINE? HOW WILL THEY RESPOND?  HOW DO YOUR POLICE RESPOND? or IS IT JUST PLACATED FOR THE MOMENT? until an incident, when all the 15 minutes of fame's come out to talk to the deluge of media and on camera interviews.

The saga continues.. when will America learn?
