TUCSON SHOOTING REVIEW

WWWCRIMETALKAMERICA.COM waited a few days to review and investigate the massacre in Tucson, Az.

While Congresswomen Gabriella Giffords fights for her life and the others who have survived struggle to recover and make sense of the murderous rampage by a very mentally troubled Jared Loughner, the Sunday Morning pundits, political hacks and bi-partisan politicos began their rhetoric. Even the Pima County Sheriff had a political statement, rather than keeping to his responsibility to investigate and prepare a case for prosecution.  The pundits, talking heads, media splash & flash desk jockeys do not understand the most important issue of this tragedy., LOOSE GUN AVAILABILITY. That;s right, the NRA is not going to be happy with this assessment, but while the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees that American Citizens have the "Right To Bear Arms", there is nothing that is defined in the Constitution the method in which to purchase.

I'm writing this blog, even though I strongly believe in the "Right to Bear Arms". As a former law enforcement officer, I've seen the results of many firearm shootings and victims. They range from wounds to death..blood splattered in apartments, with dead husbands, wives or children due to domestic violence. I've seen robbery victims wounded and murdered by the use of a gun, police officers dead,  assassinated by radical organizations, and even judges in their own court rooms murdered by escaping prisoners.

Jared Loughner SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD ACCESS TO PURCHASE A GUN. Everyone in the Tucson community now knows this. Also, the police, the FBI and even the NRA. The purchase procedures are archaic at best, outdated and in great need for change. I am not advocating a Constitutional change, but rather a STATE BY STATE adjustment to the policies and procedures in the purchase of weapons.  Change in carry, purchase and licensing laws. I know that the true "right wingers" and the fanatic NRA'ers will protest this recommendation, but just think about it for more than a few minutes. Think about it while you remember the people that were killed and wounded in Tucson, or at Columbine, or any other crazy bastard that thinks in his/her mind that life is so cheap, that the end of a gun will change history or America. These fanatics, lunatics and even crazy gun nuts, live in a fantasy. Jon Lennon saw this as the world watched years ago. Nothing's changed, if anything it's gotten worse.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

• Licensing Procedural Change in Each State
• Ten Day moratorium of purchase to attain the proper licensing required, as;
• 40 hours classroom training by Certified Instructors
• 16 hours of weapons training, firing range, handling, cleaning and securing the weapon
• Examination at Certified Class Instruction and Reading material - require a pass grade
• Application Change to include Psychological Computerized Examination
• Predictive Analytics - Evaluation of the Applicant 
• Complete Background Check...not just Computerized Criminal Background
• Psychological & Emotional Profile Documents
• Two forms of Identification. one being an Official State or Government Document
• Fingerprint verification process - Including FBI and State Clearance
• Mental Health Certificate approved by Psychologist or Psychiatrist. Signed /Dated
• Licensing Approval by State Agency..as with Driver's License..not individual storefront owner.
• Insurance Policy to guarantee stability of individual requesting license to Carry Firearm

Those who want to SCREAM.. go ahead..NOW!!! It's time to correct this problem...Some will argue that criminals will still carry guns, get them illegally, ammunition and use them at will...YOU ARE RIGHT !!!
However, evaluating State by State policies we see that some authorize Permit to Carry Concealed Weapon, while others require the local Police Chief to authorize weapons licensing. In the State of Connecticut and the State of New Jersey, local Police Chief's are the authority for license of weapons, even former law enforcement agents are often refused. Just LAST YEAR, Arizona changed it's statewide policy from licensing to anyone can carry a concealed weapon. Guess what happened this past weekend in Tucson Arizona??? NO GUESSING HERE!!! JUST MURDER!.

Over the past two days CrimeTalkAmerica was asked by many of our readers, via e-mail, about our position. You now have heard it.  Let's NOW do something about this NATIONWIDE!.  I ask; "WHY DOES IT TAKE A CONGRESSWOMAN'S SHOOTING TO GET ACTION? I'm not for anything else, Congresswomen Giffords shooting could save the lives of future students, people, citizens and visitors throughout the United States and it's Commonwealths.

CRIMETALKAMERICA wishes Congresswomen Giffords and all those injured in this tragedy a speedy recovery. To those who have lost loved ones, we pray for your loved ones and will remember them and this date. Those who live where children are killed by gunmen daily, or live amongst street-gang warfare and drug mobsters,  these communities need the same national coverage that this tragedy has received by our national media and Congress..
