MEXICAN DRUG CARTELS - WORLD IMPACT

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administrator (DEA) Michele M. Leonhart  stated this past Tuesday, April 5, 2001, that countries around the world are concerned about the global reach of Mexican Drug Cartels. The U.S. DEA is particularly concerned about the "Los Zetas" a vicious Mexican Drug Gang which is responsible for the murder of U.S. immigration agent this past February.

In addition, the killing and mass grave of 72 migrant workers last year in North Mexico was also attributed to this gang.

DEA Administrator Leonhart was speaking before the International Conference for Drug Control, in Cancun, Mexico. Attending countries face the same drug gang challenges as the Cartel becomes more sophisticated and expands worldwide operations.

The conference attendees all support Mexico's President Felipe Calderon's offensive action against the Mexican Cartels.
