AMERICAN GANGS A NATIONAL CRIME WAVE

In January 2009 it was reported by the U.S. Justice Department's National Gang Intelligence Center that they estimate that more than 1 million members of gangs are responsible for more than 80% of crimes in communities throughout the U.S.

They found that gangs are the "primary retail-level distributors of most illicit drugs". They also reported that they can compete with Mexican drug traffikers.

It's now one year later, 2010, and gangs have increased in population across America. It's now estimated that more than 1.5 million are roaming our communities, while in excess of 300,000 are in American prisons. The prison gang population remains a major threat to the security of prisons, and the divisions of gangs are most appearent by gang affiliations, tatoo's and signals. White, Latino, Black, Asian are all represented.

The dramatic expansion over the past ten years is the result of a new social culture, with families seperated for numerous reasons; unmarried child bearing, absentee fathers, absent mothers, incarcerated parents, deceased parentsetc.

Kids as young as 12 are being recruited, girls are workers and sex slaves, as well as operating as mules for the drug trade.

Since America's involvement in the Middle-East, in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan, the "HEROIN" trade has increased on the streets of Anmerican communities.

Big Money here !
Heroin will become the major drugo choice in the inner cities, suburban communities. This was seen during the Vietnam War, (1960's - 1980's) Acess was easy and many were making millions traffiking and distributing throughout America. Heroin enslaves it's users, and the price climbs as well as the need, therefore crime will increase as the community experiences the growing effect of heroin use.

With Heroin usage comes an increase in crime; burglaries, muggings, robberies and even murder. Addicts will do anything for a "hit" of Heroin, while the community suffers.

Law Enforcement will go into it's undercover mode, but in 2010, we are dealing with a different addict. Aggressive, fearless of our criminal jsutice system, and well armed for street war.

Our enforcement approach must change. American laws must become tougher and the bleeding hearts who will call for treatment, will want to hospitlize, rather than enforce.

We need a combination of both. Addicts need to be treated and managed, while sale and distibutors need hard prison time, not country-club prisons. Smugglers and traffickers need life sentences...not a R&R stay in prison which gangs control.

What do you think??? Let us know!!
